Background
The Orr's Island Cemetery Association, Inc., on an irregular schedule over the past few decades, produced a music and food festival at the foot of the hill on Lowells Cove Road, Orrs Island. This has proven to be quite popular and helps provide funds for us to use in cemetery maintenance. The last time we hosted the show was in 2014. In that year about 800 people attended and ever since we have been getting requests to repeat the event. It takes three or four years for the memory of how much effort is involved in bringing it all together to fade. Sufficient time having passed, we are going to do it again in 2018. Traditionally the event is held on the evening of the first full moon in August. It turns out that the first full moon in August, 2018 is too late in the season for many folks who would like to attend so we are planning the show for July 28th from 5 to 11 PM and calling it the "Summer Moon" event. The rain date would be Sunday, July 29 if required. Tickets for the Summer Moon event may be purchased through PayPal, credit card or debit card. We invite you to attend the 2018 version of this affair. Ticket prices are $15.00 for adults, $5.00 for children 16 and under and $35.00 for a family of up to two adults with up to four children. We offer tickets online through this web page if you want to pay by PayPal, credit or debit card. Please follow the procedure below.

There were four bands in the 2014 show. Cilantro - great hits from today and fifty years ago. The Scott Davis Swing Band - big band sound from the age of swing. Jimmyjo and the Jambol'Ayuhs - Cajun style music. The Blues Buzzards - rocking blues music.
Food was available from the line shown at the right. From left to right we see Becky's Un-Fork-Edible finger food, Blanche's Famous lobster stew, Allison's Salt Cod Cafe treats and trustee John Webster manning the grill.
The Orr's Island Candy Store set up shop in one of the fishouses on the shore. They offered ice cream cones, cookies, popsicles, floats and soda.
The Bailey Island General Store (BIGS) food service occupied the next fishouse. They provided a dining area on the wharf, serving a lobster roll special, soft drinks and coffee.
Fine wines and craft beers were provided by Mainely Bartenders in the old store on the big wharf.
As the sun was getting low in the sky a short but heavy rain shower hit the party. Some folks gathered in what shelter they could find while others danced in the rain.
As the shower passed over to the east we were treated to the most persistent rainbow, sometimes even showing double.
The Cumberland County Sheriff's Department provided security. The officer came early, stayed late and ensured a family friendly environment throughout.
The crowd began to come in early and continued until quite late. At dusk the crowd really began to gather. Ticket sellers at the gates were hard pressed to pass out sometimes soggy tickets and make change.
We provided a dance floor in front of the stage but many folks thought the street was fine for dancing.
